Description
This pocket mirror carries the illustration of a life drawing figure.
For an artist, life drawing can be central to learning about the human body. Observing how we each sit, stand and move due to an extraordinary collaboration between many parts of our body gives life to a portrait or illustration and captures a key essence of who we are. Leonardo da Vinci studied bodies by night and Francis Bacon was found to have anatomical, medical texts within his private studio, as he too sought to appreciate the human frame and the life within.
This image was created by the artist Weimin He, an artist and printmaker based in Oxford.
We explore a little of the history of life drawing in our Journal entry here.
